Your Mama Can’t Help You Now, says The Mike Haskins Experience.

February 4, 2011 Leave a comment

Your Mama Can’t Help You Now is The Mike Haskins Experience’s take on the garage stomp style. With Bob (ex-Nervebreakers) and Russell (ex-Vomit Pigs) from Bag O’ Wire making their point, there is no doubting the message! The pic demonstrates the eternal triangle, courtesy of sixties TV’s Bewitched.

The Mike Haskins Experience Don’t Want Your Lovin’!

February 1, 2011 1 comment

Don’t Want Your Lovin’ is the latest post from It’s Time For…The Mike Haskins Experience, the collection of songs recorded in 2010. With Bag O’ Wire backing, this song shows the snotty sixties garage punk side of the MHE. This was featured in BOW’s 2010 live set, with Curtis Hawkins on lead vocal. The samurai dog armor pic is from the Pink Tentacle blog, and belongs to an unnamed UK museum.

You’re The Girl For Me- garage trash?

You’re The Girl For Me is the Mike Haskins Experience in garage trash mode. This tune was featured in Bag O’ Wire’s 2009/10 live sets, with Curtis Hawkins on lead vocals. Bob and Russell from BOW provide the raunchy rhythms here. The scooter girl is showing an outfit from Lizzy Enger’s 2008 line as featured in the Quadrophenia stage play.

The third song from It’s Time For…The Mike Haskins Experience is Walk Across The Sun. What’s with the pictures, you ask? These are just some images that I think about when I hear the songs. Kinda like a picture sleeve for the 45 single. This pic is from the Karen Walker Eyewear 2010 Collection.
Relax, enjoy.

New recordings from Mike Haskins!

January 22, 2011 2 comments

I just finished recording some of my songs in 2010. My friends from The Big Guns and Bag O’ Wire backed me on the tracks recorded at Ash Creek Estates Recorders; John “JP” Painter mixed and mastered at the Kitchen Studio in Dallas, TX.  I laughably dubbed this The Mike Haskins Experience, and now the name has stuck. This stuff is in the style of sixties garage and psyche. I have been inspired on this project by The 13th Floor Elevators, Count Five, The Troggs, Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Seeds, The Chocolate Watch Band, The Kinks, etc.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy “It’s Time For…The Mike Haskins Experience.”

Today’s offering is Let Your Little Mind Fly.

Mike Haskins- vocal, guitars, keys
Jim Dale- bass, backing vocals
Devin Gibson- drums
